Run to you Lyrics

I know that when you look at me
There's so much that you just don't see
But if you would only take the time
I know in my heart you'd find
A girl who's scared sometimes
Who isn't always strong
Can't you see the hurt in me?
I feel so all alone

I wanna run to you (oooh)
I wanna run to you (ooooh)
Won't you hold me in your arms
And keep me safe from harm
I want to run to you (oooooh)
But if I come to you (ooooh)
Tell me, will you stay or will you run away

Each day, each day I play the role
Of someone always in control
But at night I come home and turn the key
There's nobody there, no one cares for me
What's the sense of trying hard to find your dreams
Without someone to share it with
Tell me what does it mean?

I wanna run to you (oooh)
I wanna run to you (ooooh)
Won't you hold me in your arms
And keep me safe from harm
I want to run to you (oooooh)
But if I come to you (ooooh)

Tell me, will you stay, or will you, run away
Run away

I need you here
I need you here to wipe away my tears
To kiss away my fears, no
If you only knew how much
I wanna run to you (ooooh)
I wanna run to you (ooooh)
Won't you hold me in your arms
And keep me safe from harm
I want to run to you (ooooh)
But if I come to you (ooooh)
Tell me, will you stay or will you run away

recording

Writing and recording

"Run to You" is a song that was recorded by singer-songwriter Bryan Adams and co-written by him with Jim Vallance.

critics opinion

Critics' opinion

In the opinion of Stewart Mason, from AllMusic, Run to You despite being the first of the six greatest hits of “Reckless”, taking into account its lyrics, it is a weaker song than all the others. As a justification, Stewart says that although the song has an intense chorus, sounding in an excellent way, there is literally not much more to the song: more than half of the song is composed of repetitions of the chorus and after it there is a huge breakdown at the instrumental level.

album

Album where it was included

After touring Asia, Bryan Adams began recording for his fourth album, "Reckless". The recording of Run to You began on March 27, 1984, in Little Mountain Sound, Vancouver, Canada and continued until the middle of the same year.
Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance initially wrote the song for Blue Öyster Cult, but the group turned it down, as did the 38 Special it was later offered. The song thus became the last written for “Reckless”, becoming the first track on this album.

classification

Classification and certification

Run to you has since surpassed the success of every other song on this album, as well as becoming one of the Canadian singer's most recognizable and popular songs.
It was the first time that a song by Bryan Adams topped the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart, for four weeks and in the following five weeks it occupied the second place. But it didn't stop there, the melody also reached sixth place on the Billboard Hot 100; the top 20 for seven weeks, having managed to position itself in fourth place and in 1985 it was certified Gold in Canada, the singer-songwriter's homeland.

video clip

Presentation video clip

The presentation video clip was shot in London, England and later in Los Angeles.
It was directed by Steve Barron and nominated for the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards in five different categories: Best Direction, Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction, Best Editing and Best Cinematography. It was Bryan Adams' song that received the most MTV Video Music Awards nominations.

song title

Music theme

The song talks about the theme of Infidelity. It's a man who, despite recognizing his partner's true love and loyalty, does not "run for" her, but for his seductive lover.
CMJ critic Ira Robbins dubbed this theme a "classic con". However, Bryan Adams, in the music video (whose director was Steve Barron, one of the greatest music video creators of the 1980s), portrays his guitar as an object of desire.
So the question remains: are the lyrics really about a woman or about an object of pleasure? Each one will be able to interpret it in their own way, as with any poem.
