Somebody Lyrics

I've been lookin' for someone
Between the fire and the flame
We're all lookin' for something
To ease the pain

Now who can you turn to
When it's all black and white
And the winners are losers
You see it every night

I need somebody
Somebody like you
Everybody needs somebody
I need somebody
Hey what about you
Everybody needs somebody, ohh

When you're out on the front line
And you're watchin' them fall
It doesn't take long to realize
It ain't worth fightin' for, ohh

I thought I saw the Madonna
When you walked in the room
Well your eyes were like diamonds
And they cut right through, oh they cut right through

I need somebody
Somebody like you
Everybody needs somebody, ohh yeah
I need somebody
Hey what about you
We all need somebody, hey

Another night, another lesson learned
It's the distance keeps us sane
But when the silence leads to sorrow
We do it all again, all again yeah

I need somebody
Somebody like you
Everybody needs somebody, ohh yeah
I need somebody
Oh what about you
Everybody needs somebody
I need somebody
Somebody like you
Everybody needs somebody
Need somebody
I need somebody
Yeah what about you baby
We all need somebody
I need somebody
Everybody needs somebody
I need somebody (hey)
Everybody needs somebody

Writing and recording

The song "Somebody" was written and recorded by singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, along with Jim Vallance. It's the second single from the Canadian singer's fourth album, "Reckless" from 1984.

Album where it was included

"Reckless" in October 29, 1984.

classification

Classification and certification

Released in 1985 "Somebody" was considered one of the biggest hits of the album "Reckless", becoming one of Bryan Adams' most popular songs.
The song was number one for two weeks on the Billboard Top Rock Traks chart, number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 13 on the Canadian Singles Chart, having remained in the top 20 for six consecutive weeks.
"Somebody" was Bryan Adams' third top 20 hit on the Canadian chart. And yet, after being released in Europe, it became the singer's third charting single on the European continent.

critics opinion

Critics' opinion

Quoting Allmusic's Stewart Mason: "Following Big Rawk Anthem ("Run to You") and Sensitive Power Ballad ("Heaven"), "Somebody" is a pop song with a killer chorus. The generation of bar-working cover bands loves the song! "Somebody" has a chorus so simple and catchy you could sing it too, even if you've never heard the song before. Like "Run to You", "Somebody" is a little too schematic to qualify as a rock classic from all time, but it still sounds good on the radio."

video clip

Presentation video clip

Two video clips were created for this song: one shows footage (filmed at Massey Hall in Toronto) of Bryan Adams playing the song live, with his band and the audience cheering in the background.
The other shows the singer leaving a stadium and crossing a football field, interspersed with photos of him playing the guitar and a woman (played by Lysette Anthony) who hints that she has problems with her boyfriend, but… the most intense visualization is when Bryan Adams appears entering a football field, completely full, while a video of him, playing the song, appears on a large screen.
